The New Forest has many amazing things to do, but Christmas at Beaulieu is well worth a visit. They have so much going on. It looks like they are not having their Christmas Light Display in 2019, but that doesn’t mean you should bypass Beaulieu altogether!
They have a few events worthy of your time. Listed below, but you can find lots more info at their official site.
New Forest VW Santa Run – 1st December
Super sad I happen to be working this weekend, otherwise, I would love to see this.
For the seventh year running a gaggle of VW’s (and when I say gaggle, in 2018 there were 150!) meet at Beaulieu and deliver toys to Southampton General Hospital Piam Brown Unit. A unit specialised in taking care of children with cancer, up to the age of 18.
We have a VW California T5, so would love to have been there to see the stream and cheer off the VW’s on their great cause.
Arrive at Beaulieu before 10 am to ensure you get to enjoy the display. More information on their page.
Bearback: The World Overland – 6th December
This is a story all about a couple of doctors, Pat and Ness Garrod. They encountered deserts, mountains, jungles and more as they gave up their GP jobs and set off on a global trip.
Two grown-ups, around one world on one motorcycle, The Bear.
I haven’t seen this, but if you ever need inspiration to do the same, or can’t, but want to live it vicariously then perhaps this is for you!
Victorian Christmas – From 7th December, Various dates
A couple of years ago, we spent Valentine Evening at Beaulieu. Yes, I know this is Christmas at Beaulieu.
It is a great way to see the inside of the house that you may not normally see, and this event at Christmas may give you the same opportunity.
Owned by the Montagu’s, this gives you the perfect chance to take a step back, and imagine yourself in the past. The Palace House if your venue for the evening.
Mulled Punch, A Christmas Tree in every room and log fires surely sets the perfect Christmas scene.
Medieval Christmas Banquet – 21st December
The 3 D’s. Dinner. Drinks, and a Disco at Beaulieu Abbey? What’s not to like!!
A medieval Banquet at the 13th Century Domus at Beaulieu is the setting for what should be a fantastic evening.
Limited tickets offering you traditional mead on arrival, followed by platters of meat, vegetables & potatoes (vegetarian option available). This is all followed by the DJ promising to bring you back to the present day.
A Summary of Christmas at Beaulieu
A VW Santa Run. A couple travelling the world on a motorbike. A Victorian Christmas and a Medieval Banquet. Christmas at Beaulieu really does have a bit for most people in 2019.
While they may not be having the Christmas Light Display, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t visit.
I hope this helped a bit and we certainly hope to be taking in Christmas at Beaulieu before the year is out!!
