We were having a day out to Corfe Castle and Swanage today. But, it started with the usual routine. Bottles, dressing, a bit of whinging and crying. But when I had my second cup of tea, I was fine!!
After making sure Max had everything he needed, and we headed off. We knew what we wanted to do today, and that was Corfe Castle and Swanage. We’d seen them loads of time, but wanted to introduce them to Max.
As we left the house, we gobbled up our duck and hoisin sauce sandwiches that we’d made with last nights left overs, and headed off to Corfe, looking forward to our cream tea we had promised ourselves.
Our day out to Corfe Castle and Swanage was off to a good start. Luck was on our side, and managed to get a free parking spot right outside the entrance. We could only park for an hour but that was fine.
We took a few snaps of Corfe, then hunted down the place to enjoy our cream tea.
The greyhound was our eatery of choice. 2 scones, and a pot of tea. £4.95. Bargain!!! We ordered at the bar, gave our table number, and then confused the issue by moving tables.
The resulting confusion meant we were given someone else’s scones.
They had ordered twice as much as us, but with Earl Grey. At the time we though this is what we were due, until we realised and corrected the issue with the waiters.
After a nice munch on a totally unhealthy snack, we piled back in the car, and headed off to Swanage.
I may have mentioned this before, but Swanage is a place my wife came regularly as a child, so has dear memories for her.
As a result we wanted to introduce Max to the town. We parked up, and went for a wander around. Around the town, up to Suzanne’s Grans old house, that turns out is for sale again. For only £520,000!!!
Oh, I forgot to mention that the hill to get to the house is incredibly steep, so was tough pushing the buggy up. Coming down was a breeze though!!!
We then headed down to the beach, and had a seat at the end of a small concrete pier/jetty, took a few snaps, before heading back around to the beach.
We bumped the buggy across the cobbles, before the smoother promenade of the beach gave us all little respite from the vibrations.
Despite it being a breezy, late Septembers day, there was still a few people braving the beach and the water. Not us though. I did venture down to try and get a photo with a new filter I’d bought, but not having much luck nailing the shot I want, so more practice needed.
After a refreshing walk, we had a conflict. Max was due a feed about 20 minutes before our car park ticket runs out. Do we rush the feed, or get back to the car and drive somewhere else. We chose the later, and Max being the awesome son he is, obliged, until we got to a small pub in Kingston called The Scott’s Arms.
Max enjoyed his milk, and after a full tummy, we left the pub to a view somehow we missed as we walked in. It was then back to Wareham for a nice dinner and maybe even a cheeky drink at the local pub.
