Review of Wareham Forest Tourist Park – About Our Stay

As soon as we pulled into the entrance of Wareham Forest Tourist Park, we had high expectations. Set in the middle of the forest with, baking sun to welcome us, that moment was exactly why we bought a campervan.

This was a last minute stop, just for one night, but it is moments like this that we wanted to enjoy.

Location

Again, most campervanning families enjoy the trappings that the freedom a camper van brings. Being at one with nature, the outdoor life and spending time as a family. Wareham Forest Tourist Park is perfect for this. Not too far from the south coast and located in Dorset the village of Wareham is about 3 miles away.

Wareham is a beautiful town situated somewhere between Bournemouth and Weymouth in the south of England. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the bigger towns, Wareham is certainly an option to look at.

It is a charming part of the world, with plenty of things nearby to keep you busy.

Only a short drive to the coast, you have the wonderful little seaside town of Swanage. Situated near the Jurassic Coast, you have plenty of opportunity to explore this wonderful part of the world, with Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Durston Castle all within a short drive.

Customer Service / Staff

Efficient. I guess that is the best word to descibe them. There were not too many niceties but they were polite enough and checked us in in good time. Like I said. Efficient

Showers and Toilets

Wareham Forest Tourist ParkMoving on, our review of Wareham Forest Tourist Park continues.

Showers are always an important factor, and I am not going to apologise for repeating what I have said in most reviews we have done.

If I am honest, these toilets are a little dated, but having said that, they were clean and worked well.

One major plus is they had proper taps. You could turn them on, and enjoy the shower. Knowing a push button wasn’t going to pop out when you had a head full of shampoo was a benefit!

The hot water was relatively constant, and as mentioned they were clean and tidy.

Cleanliness

Thumbs up here too. Showers and toilets were well maintained, as was the rest of the park. The pool area was smart and kept tidy, and the grounds in general were looked after too.

Facilities

Our review of Wareham Forest Tourist Park moves onto the Facilities.

While there weren’t a plethora of facilities, it had what you needed to make it a great stay. An adequate shop for essentials if there is anything you have forgotten. The pool was a huge hit with all of us, Max in particular and put to use as soon as we arrived.

The play park was well equipped, and although situated some way from our pitch, it was in a nice open expanse of grass so for those not as keen on little ones running around making a noise, this shouldn’t cause a problem.

The park offers Wi-Fi, albeit with a small charge. £8 for three days or £18 for a week. We were happy with our 4G so we can’t comment on the speed or reliability of this.

As mentioned, there is no onsite Bar or Restaurant, but they do have food options where external companies come in and provide food on site. Take a look at their website for more information, as this does seem to change.

You should really know what facilities are there before you arrive at any campsite, so there not being a Bar or Restaurant should not come as a shock.  I think if this did have one, it would make it an even better park, but the facilities they did have were more than adequate.

Conclusion

So, after our review of Wareham Forest Tourist Park, would we recommend this site to other?

In short, yes.

It has a lot of pitches, facilities that are suitable for a true campervan experience, as you are more likely to eat and drink in and around the van, and of course the pool and park are great for passing the time and letting the little ones let of steam.

The showers while dated, we otherwise ideal and the shop more than good enough to replenish essentials.

In any case, I hope reading about our experience here has helped a little bit, and if you are interested, here is a video we put together of our stay there, with more photos below.

Happy Campervanning!!
