USA 2015 – 5th Sept – Road Tripping from Middletown to Binghamton

Day 3 of our USA 2015 Road Trip, sees us doing just that. Road Tripping. From Middletown to Binghamton to be precise.

We left Middletown and headed to Minnewaska State Park. On arriving we reluctantly paid $10 to enter even though we knew we’d be there for only 2 hours or so.

We felt we owed it to ourselves to see something today rather than jump from town to town while accommodating Max’s naps.

The centre of our attention turned out to be Lake Minnewaska, although we did briefly venture further afield.

We took on hilly walks that were tough with the buggy. There was a beach area with a jetty people could go swimming in.

Suzanne took Max for a paddle. He got lots of smiles as he was being pushed along with his feet up, just chillin’ in the sunshine.

Sat on the grass before we left so he could have a drink and a snack, he enjoyed the crawl.

Back in the buggy to head to our next target which was the Ashokan reservoir, meaning we could enjoy the drive through Catskill park.

Max was snoozing in his buggy by 12.30, and get this, he stayed asleep until 2.45. He’s never slept that long before. We got stuck at some lights on the bridge that crosses the reservoir, got out the other side and walked back to take photos.

We then stopped at a typical American diner in a town called Downsville, although it seemed a little grotty. The food we were forced to enjoy with the flies. As you can imagine, very basic but people really nice and of course they loved Max.

We then had a 90 min drive to our next hotel in Binghampton. Checked in at the Hilton and Max tried his first ever peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He didn’t care for it too much. We had dinner in the restaurant, which we shared with a wedding and rehearsal dinner, the hotel not the restaurant.

Max slept for most of it!
