Yellowstone – A Tale of Travel

Is there another place like it on earth. The Beauty of Yellowstone – the raw untamed beauty. For those that have been, they know. They know the wilderness engulfs you. The thunderous geysers, humble, yet inspire you.

What comes to your mind when you think of Yellowstone? For me, it is an amalgamation of the three photos below. A concoction of, The beauty of Yellowstone

The wild animals living in their native wilderness. Running free. A constant reminder that this landscape of breathtaking beauty belongs to them, not us. We visit, we seek them out, and our excitement levels rise when we spot them. But in reality, we are just visiting their home. Their land. Their wilderness.

Then, there is the landscape. The vastness. The endless prairies punctuated with trees, hills, and of course, Bison. As the day draws to an end, a mystical haze barriers the setting sun. Masking its light as well as its heat, but the warmth and glow remains, even if slightly muted by the evening mist. The lower the sun gets, the more the mighty Bison morph into silhouettes.

And finally, the wonders that happen beneath our feet. The geological mysteries that create not only the sights, but the sounds, and the smells. From the gentle bubbling rock pools of the Norris Geyser Basin, to the pure brute force of Old Faithful that spews up to 55 metres skywards. This heart that beats beneath our feet, now for hundreds of thousands of years, feels like it is living and breathing.

Our brief time here—just footsteps in a single day—feels no more than a hummingbird’s tear in an endless ocean of time.

The otherworldly sounds, smells and powerful beauty is matched, nay speaking as a photographer, maybe bettered even by the colours of the likes of Grand Prismatic Spring. The deep rusty coloured cracked earth sits below a thin veil of water. Thin, but enough to reflect the broken clouds in the darker areas.
