Looking for some inspiration? Check out my photos from a Canadian Road Trip we did. Back in 2017, we headed off on a Canadian Rockies Road Trip. As a photographer, albeit primarily a sports one, this had the potential to be a hard drive-consuming, shutter-smashing, Road Trip.

There are so many inspiring stop-offs. You can be dwarfed by mountains. Amazed by the colours of the water. Excited at the prospect of seeing a Bear or a Moose
Photos from a Canadian Road Trip – Lake Louise
No matter who you speak to, Lake Louise may will be on the list of things to see if you go anywhere near the Rockies in Canada. It is simply stunning. The turquoise waters, overlooked by banks of spruce trees, backed up by the sheer mountains of the Rockies themselves. No idea who these two people are. I wonder what they are saying?
Herbert Lake
This was really a “Well, it’s on the way, we may as well stop off”. Boy, are we glad we did! Blue skies, fluffy clouds, green trees and popping reflections. All for just a 10-minute detour!
Bow Lake
Another stunning lake to photograph on your Canadian Road Trip. By now, we were getting almost complacent. Every turn, every bend, every tree clearing, every lake was a view. It is hard not to get immune to it. The natural beauty of the place was like no other place we have been to.
Maligne Lake
This was a bit of a drive from Jasper, but worth it. You can easily walk around the edge of the lake, and there are various benches and places to stop, enjoy the view, rest those legs and soak it all in. It is not as overshadowed as some of the other lakes, but it is still a stunning sight to see.
Mount Robson
At 3,954m or 12,972 feet, Mount Robson is the highest point in the Canadian Rockies. This was taken at a lunch stop on our drive to, ultimately, Whistler a few days later.
A Bear
We got off the bus in Whistler, almost resigned to the fact we were not going to see a bear. Then, arrogantly strolling across the road we spotted him / her. It sheltered in the bushes as people became aware of its presence. Read more about it here.
Vancouver Olympic Cauldron
This looks absolutely beautiful lit up at night. Particularly with the clear night sky. Taken just after sunset so there is still a bit of a warm feeling to the photo.
Canada Place at Night
Sparkling, shimmering, and glowing. Celebrating 150 years!
Granville Island
The last real thing we did on our Canadian Road Trip, was to visit Granville Island. I love this picture, showing the trader buried in her own produce.
Snowball Fights at Maligne Lake
Max’s first snowball fight. He had a whale of a time until he realised how cold his hands were!!
So there you have it, my favourite Photos from a Canadian Road Trip.
Hope it inspired you to hit the road, in Canada or wherever you may be!
