Today should be the highlight of our trip. We continue our Road Trip North to Niagara Falls Canada. We have about a 2-hour drive today and are looking forward to seeing the thunderous falls.
After breakfast, we check out of the Hampton Inn, but before we do, we went for a lovely walk around Seneca Lake. Well, not all the way around as it is probably hundreds of miles!!
Heading to Niagara Falls Canada
Then, after loading the car up we jump on the road and made a beeline for Niagara via Walmart to buy lunch and supplies. Nothing too exciting to report here as it is our intention to get there as quickly as possible.
We stock up on sandwiches from Walmart. Then drive virtually non stop not really knowing what to expect when we get to the border. It is all very simple, paid the toll, show our passports and before we know it we are in Canada!!
Checked in and we all had lunch in the hotel lobby, during which, Max goes off and has a little explore.
Tummies full, and the lobby checked out, it is down to the river to view the awesomeness that is Niagara Falls.
It is really hot, and the spray from the falls are a welcome respite to the heat. Being Labor Day it is extremely busy, but we walk along the river, getting the odd photo when a gap opened up at the wall. In response to the spray and the sunshine, a rainbow streaks across falls.
This is no doubt a regular occurrence, but it is still a pleasure to see.
We pop into the welcome centre for a break from the heat. Enjoying a drink in the patio bar of the Elements of the Falls restaurant certainly cooled us down.
Dinner, and a show (Fireworks show at least)
After feeling suitably refreshed we walk back along the riverside, and up Murray Street, which is one hell of a hill, especially when pushing a 30lb baby up it!!
We stop at Margaritaville at the top for some liquid refreshment. Suitably refreshed, we head back to the hotel to give Max his tea and get changed for the evening. This time of year, there are fireworks and a light show to enjoy.
A little bit of research in Victoria Park and we discover they had a display at 8.15, 9.15 and 10.15.
So, it is back up the hill for dinner at Coco’s Bar & Grill only to then go back down again for the laser water show and fireworks.
All the time Max is awake so he can enjoy the fireworks too.
Then, back up that darn hill to the hotel and bed!!
