USA 2015 – Sept 4th – Driving from Fort Lee to Middletown

Before we start driving from Fort Lee to Middletown, we started with a hunt for a diner for a good old traditional waffle breakfast. We found one nearby called ‘Chillers’.

We started the day right, and was even served by Jesus! Yesterday’s journey got us as far as Fort Lee. We now wanted to get on the road and start driving from Fort Lee to Middletown

Headed off up the Hudson and stopped at a scenic overlook.

Thanks to jetlag, Max was snoozing away. We got out to enjoy the views, locking Max in the car and never straying more than 20 foot from it.

Stopped off at a small town whose names escapes me. The aim was to pick up some sandwiches and snacks for lunch.

Once we accomplished that task, we then headed off to Bear Mountain state park. We wanted somewhere scenic to picnic, to enjoy the lunch we had bought.

After lunch, we enjoyed a walk by the lake, meeting some wildlife friends on the way!

The day was pushing on, so it was about time to head off to Middletown which was our stop for the night in the Hampton Inn.

On the way, while trying to find a nice riverside route we managed to get ourselves into a security check line at West Point military academy!!!

None of us wanted to sign up for duty. So with the help of the man on security, we made a hasty u-turn and headed off again.

USA Road Trip – Driving from Fort Lee to Middletown – Dinner Time

Thinking Max needed a bit of a snooze before we went out, Suzanne tried to get him down for a while.

While this was happening, I headed to Walmart to get some drinks and bits for Max. I returned to find everyone wide awake. No sleep had by anyone!

As there was no restaurant at the hotel, we headed out for dinner.

First stop was Soho bar and grill but it had loud music and not suitable for Max who had now dropped off!

We ended up in a place called Chilli’s for dinner, with a snoozing baby!

Our Restaurant of choice

Dinner was good, we met a couple at the bar and got talking. Jokingly, Suzanne seemed convinced they were swingers!!

Whatever they did in their spare time, the seemed keen to give us some tips on where to go over the next few days.

Dinner over. Everyone’s tummies full, it was back to the hotel for a decent night sleep. For tomorrow sees us head further northeast, edging ever closer to Niagara.
