Kings Hat Walk New Forest. The next of the walks we ventured out on. This time, it was just me, with our son Max.
My biggest concern of the morning, obviously wasn’t the drive there. It wasn’t would it be too damp we couldn’t walk anywhere. It wasn’t even would our 2 year get picked up by a cow and carried off! This doesn’t happen by the way. Much.
The biggest concern was, would he wear his new wellies! Well he did. Just.
We parked up, and I squeezed him into his wellies, much to his reluctance.
“Max, do you want to splash and jump in puddles?” I asked.
“Ya, Ya!” came the reply. So I persevered. 5 minutes later, after a bit of whinging, crying and yelling (mainly by me), I had calmed down. Max was in his wellies and we set off to explore the Kings Hat Walk New Forest.
The car park again was a decent size, and the time of weekday we visit these places parking is never an issue. As we left the car park, we headed down the closest path, which took us through the trees. Max was at this point, enjoying the walk.
He adopted a stick, which was by his side for a while, trotting along like a little old man!
Eventually, the path opens out, and goes down hill slightly to a small stream, with a wooden bridge going across. Max, minus his stick, went across first.
The Clearing
I have read that this can get flooded after serious rain, but today, fortunately, all was flowing freely! Once over the bridge, the trees parted, and it opened out onto the clearing in the forest. Over time we stumble across places like this, it reinforces my belief that our decision to move to this part of the world was a good one.
Most walks in this area are good ones, and Kings Hat Walk New Forest is no exception. The views it gave us were amazing, and if you ever need a some time to let of steam with the dogs (or kids) or come somewhere quite to gather your thoughts, consider here.
It was at this point it all started to go awry! Max decided he no longer wanted to walk anywhere, and so I didn’t really want to venture further into the walk, if he couldn’t be bothered to walk!
Back the car, and onto Lepe Country Park
So we headed back to the car. I guess he is too young to appreciate his surroundings at the moment, but we will persevere! Back at the car, it was back into his trainers, and we decided to head over to Lepe Country Park so he could have some fun at the play park. I will plan on doing a bit more of a write up on the park and its facilities, but you can read a bit about the beach here, and there are a few photos below of Max having fun in the Play Park.
